Fenugreek is one of the oldest medicinal plants, originating in India and Northern Africa. The plant produces small, golden-brown seeds with a distinctive maple-like aroma and a naturally bitter taste profile. Fenugreek seed contains a range of naturally occurring plant constituents, including dietary fibre, mucilage polysaccharides, proteins, saponins and alkaloids such as trigonelline. These constituents have contributed to its long-standing use as both a food plant and a traditional herbal ingredient.
